What to wear under wedding dress

Julie, on July 18, 2023 at 6:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 7
I need some advice! I picked out my dream dress on Saturday! While trying on dresses, I had on a strapless bra as I’m too busty to not have some kind of support. My dress dips just low enough in the front & back that I’m not going to be able to wear a regular bra with it. I’ve looked into plunge bras, low back bras, sticky bras… a lot of them don’t have great reviews, especially if you are larger chested. If you’ve been in this situation, what was the best solution? Sewing a bra into the dress may be an option… I’ve also considered trying one of those low back plunging bodysuits that are all over TikTok, but I don’t really need any compression in that area because my dress isn’t fitted. Any & all suggestions, recommendations, & advice is welcome!!

I was in a similar situation as I am a 36DD. I wore a strapless bra for dress shopping but it showed in the back with my dress. I debated all of the same options you mentioned but the less than stellar reviews made me hesitate. Ultimately, I had cups sewn into the dress and once it was fitted to me, it provided plenty of support. Best of luck!

My dress was strapless and had a built in corset. Once the dress was fitted to me properly, I didn’t need a bra, and I’m a 34G.

Get a good seamstress! I had a v front, low back dress and she fit it to me and added better/more natural cups so I didn't need to wear a bra (just pasties for my own comfort!) I had DDDs and had no issues at all!

I'm sewing a bra into mine. The front area that shows too much cleavage IMO I am altering. If the bra doesn't work well enough I'll be doing some boob tape in addition. I did a trial run last month of boob tape and it wasn't horrific for this 44DD. So I'm a good sized gal in that department. Wedding is in September and if you would like I'll report back what I ended up doing.

Thank you! My wedding isn’t until next June, so please do let me know what ended up working for you!! I’m thinking getting a bra sewn in is the way to go!
